It’s YOUR Relationship With the Lord

Being Alone in the Word

We, as Christians, are called to have a relationship with the Lord, being made new in Him. One piece of this relationship is being in His Word daily. Daily, we need to be reminded of God's goodness in our bitterness. In being in His Word, we can hear Him speak into our lives and are being fed the Good News so we can go out and tell others. Being in the Word brings silence as we listen to what the Lord says. Yet, this is very difficult as we constantly have thoughts running through our heads. But, the longer we read, the more time we have to receive what we should. We should find the strength of aloneness, and the strength of the fellowship comes solely from the Word of God. We can't be fruitful with others in the community if we don't have time alone with the Lord. Being silent in the WOrd but also with others shows humility. Silence before the Lord is a simple stillness having our thoughts be directed in the Word. Our day can start with silence with the Lord and end as we listen to His words.

Meditation and Prayer

We have a relationship with God through meditation and prayer, which is a piece of having your own connection to God. A time every Christian should set aside should be private meditation and prayer devoted in the Scriptures. Having alone time should not bring us into the void and loneliness but be alone in the Word of God. This dedicated time creates a groundwork for standing firm and making clear daily decisions. Scripture is not only for the church to meditate on together but for the individual to create a special relationship with God. God has given us His Word for our benefit, and we must utilize it to its fullest potential. A good way to start meditation is through prayer and asking Him to be your focus at that time. But, pray that the Lord can quiet your heart and mind from the world's distractions and give you peace. When reading Scripture, sometimes we need to value the quality over the quantity of the time with the Lord or what exactly we are reading.

How am I doing alone with the Lord?

This question is very convicting to me right now. I struggle similarly to others in being alone and always wanting someone to come with me. The Lord has been stretching me recently to allow me to be physically alone. But also being alone in His Word through meditation and prayer. I have been sharing with my friends recently that when I am alone, I don't know what to do with myself, or I often think of others, and therefore I am not truly alone with the Lord. My prayer now is to take the opportunities the Lord is giving me to see His goodness and admire His character. Recently I have been able to create my own relationship with the Lord and cherish my salvation through Christ Jesus.
